Volcano board

From Looney Pyramid Games Wiki

A Volcano board is a 5 by 5 grid of squares. It got its name from Volcano, the first Icehouse game to use such a grid, although a physical board is not required for the game.

Any 5x5 grid with squares at least 1 inch on a side will do, although many Icehouse gamers like to use a specially constructed board with raised borders between the squares that hold the pieces in place. This makes it easier to move the board without disturbing the pieces.

The Bargain Board[edit | edit source]

If you are short on materials or money, and merely need a visual reminder of where the lines are, then all you need is one sheet of notebook paper and possibly a pen.

Most notebook paper has margins at around 1-1 1/2 inches. This is that red line that some people use to partition their doodles. This is also a great measurement for a Volcano board.

1. Fold your paper along this red line

2. Fold your paper along the edge of this newly folded section

3. Repeat until you run out of space for new folds

4. Fold a corner to the first fold line, and use this to mark your next set of borders.

The rest is just cleanup, either tearing/cutting off rows you don't need, or drawing a pen line along the folds you have created to make them more noticeable.
