This is playable, though not what I'd call thrilling. The fact that it is so frequently possible to erupt without running up against a board edge or a cap means that the board quickly develops a lot of bare patches, that permit caps to wander about willy-nilly.

Standard Volcano seems to be a superior game. But this one has wonderfully many pyramids. --Carthoris 02:40, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

I'm interested if the Duel version helps with some of the weaknesses that Carthoris noted. Certainly the Hexano-Duel inspired addition will create more restrictions, especially when the additional caps manifest. It may be the first eleven-color game I try, as soon as I can talk someone into it. --nihilvor 06:14, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

I've tried 2-player Supercalifragilisticaldera with happy results. It makes for a game nearly twice as long as standard Caldera, and just as competitive. No testing yet for higher player counts, but I expect them to be better than standard Caldera, because that's a weakness of standard setup. --Carthoris 21:09, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

Excessive? Duh[edit source]

Oh man. Excessive is absolutely right! Now, for the pyramids...
