This page is primarily for discussion about the way the template looks.

After editing the list, be sure to visit Template talk:count of games to check that Template:Count of games is still correct. That is also the place to discuss whether or not something belongs on the list, or related questions about how we count games.

Squashing the list into a box[edit source]

Ahem: is there not a way we can squash this into a box? The problem would be in making sure the columns lined up. Someone with experience in tables should do it. --ManyHills 19:47, 30 May 2005 (GMT)

What are you wanting to accomplish? This will eventually grow to more than 100 games, so it should probably not be used on many pages. Do you want to turn this into a three-column list, or something? I couldn't see an easy way to do that and without losing the sorting and the numbering. But there's probably some way. — Rootbeer (Tom) (U | T | C) 20:11, 30 May 2005 (GMT)

Can anyone explain why this exists?[edit source]

I am just curious why folks proliferate lists on this wiki like there's no tomorrow. We already have FIVE places to list games (one too many), and one of them does a fine job of providing a useful count; so WTF is this thing FOR? NO ONE is going to put the whole frigging list of games onto another page--it serves no purpose, when ONE mouse click can carry one to the functional, necessary count of games page.

Folks, please... chill out. Make games, not useless navigational aides that are invariably incomplete because half the designers don't know about them. PLEASE. --David Artman 14:43, 25 July 2007 (EDT)

I like this list, and I'd hate to see it go. To me, this *is* THE LIST. If it's not here, then it's probably gone from memory. Also, I think the handy tally this generates makes a neat addition to the main page, a way of showing just how versatile and prolific the icehouse design community is. - Cerulean 16:20, 25 July 2007 (EDT)
This page doesn't make the count, the count of games generates that "181" value wherever the template tag {{count of games}} is placed in text.
What THIS page generates, if embedded as a template call ({{list of games}}) is the actual listing of all games. To my knowledge, there is no page which calls for this template; further, I can not imagine an instance where one would embed this whole list of games rather than a link to Talk:Count_of_games. In short, as I said above, there is no function for this list; it's a template with no pages (i.e. useless). --David Artman 10:02, 2 August 2007 (EDT)
Correction, list of games is pulled into count of games Talk, which in turn generates the number. So I stand corrected: there is, in fact, only one place to list a game on The List: here. Everything else generates automatically (from what I can tell--now it just seems overly complex). 8) -David Artman 10:05, 2 August 2007 (EDT)
