Equipment/Color die

The term "Color die" can refer to either of two different dice released by Looney Labs. They are similar in nature and can be used interchangeably when playing games, provided you have pyramids or cards that match the colors on the die faces. The Color die with circles was released in 2009, followed in 2016 by a die that used symbols rather than just circles. The symbols of the 2016 Color die matched the suits of the five-suited Zark City deck.

Differences between Dice

The original 2009 Color Die features a dark blue dot (matching the dark blue pyramids) and a black dot (matching the opaque black pyramids). The later 2016 Color Die uses a cyan blue diamond in place of the dark blue dot, and a purple spade in place of the black dot. These colors refer to the cyan and purple pyramids. The 2016 die is also indented, while the 2009 die has artwork printed on smooth faces.

Trivia

• Looney Labs has at times referred to each of these two different dice as "the Color Die" in marketing materials and official game rules, and no particular term is used to differentiate one from the other. "Color Dot Die" vs "Color Icon Die" seem to be good candidates.
• The 2016 Color die is the only die to feature indented faces of all the custom-produced dice produced for Looney Pyramid games to date.
