Based on Der Igelwettkampf by Haba. |
Der Marsigelwettkampf is a pyramid remix of Haba's keychain minigame Der Igelwettkampf. It can be played with any number of players, as long as each player can control a stackable trio distinguishable from those of all his opponents. Using only current-production sets Rainbow stash, Xeno stash, and Pink Hijinks, eleven players are possible.
Objective[edit | edit source]
To be the first player to form a tree of their colour.
Setup[edit | edit source]
- Assign a different-coloured trio for each player.
- Arrange the pieces upright in a circle, in combined colour and size order:
- For instance, colour order might be defined as Red, Yellow, Green, Blue; and size order as queen, drone, pawn. The pieces would be laid out as RQ, YD, GP, BQ, RD, YP, GQ, BD, RP, YQ, GD, BP.
- Select a player to begin. Play proceeds counterclockwise.
Gameplay[edit | edit source]
- On your turn, roll the die to determine your movement points.
- You may use up to the number of movement points you rolled this turn to move pieces of your colour.
- Pieces cost their pip count in movement points per space they move.
- You may choose to use less than your rolled movement points, and even pass.
- Pieces move around the board either direction from space to space, and may only end their movement on top of a pyramid of the same or smaller size.
- If you have no legal moves, you must pass.
- Pieces within stacks may be moved, but they carry pieces above them along with them.
- If you control multiple pieces in a single stack, you may only move the topmost one.
Special Rules[edit | edit source]
- Spaces
- The location of a stack of pieces is a space. When no more pyramids remain at a location, that space ceases to exist, and the spaces on either side of it are now adjacent to each other.
- Stacking
- Pieces may only be stacked on pieces their own size or
- Winning
- You must form a tree of your colour. It may be occupying a space alone, or it may be somewhere within a stack; but no pieces of other colours can come between the pieces of your colour.
- Drawing
- If all players pass consecutively, the game is drawn.
