Icehouse: The Martian Chess Set

The first boxed edition of the Icehouse game system to be published by Looney Labs. It was shipped in a clear plastic box, which contained four stashes of plastic Icehouse pieces (colors: red, yellow, green, and blue) and the rules to four games (Martian Chess, IceTowers, Zarcana, and IceTraders). It did not contain stash pads, or the rules to Icehouse.

This was the first set of Icehouse pieces available in large quantity and through game stores. It capitalized on the reputation that Looney Labs had built with Fluxx and introduced many new people to Icehouse gaming and the allure of the little plastic pyramids. An explosion in Icehouse game design followed.
