Centrifice is a hurling competition game, and the first to introduce the new Centrificeing mechanic for Icehouse pieces.
Status
Under development
This game is currently under development, in the Playtesting stage. Feedback is strongly encouraged! Feel free to give comments on game design or structure on the talk page.
Goal
Centrifice your Projectile over the longest distance.
Setup
Centrifice can be played on almost any surface, but in order to avoid damage or scratches to your icehouse pieces, a smooth, soft surface is recommended. Players agree on a common starting line, which should be marked in some way. Decide randomly which player goes first.
Terminology
Since there are a few terms that should be referenced coherently throughout the game, they are all listed here.
Catapult
A stack of at least two Icehouse pieces, placed flat on the playing surface.
Projectile
The topmost piece of a Catapult. This is the piece that is actually hurled about and counts toward the victory conditions.
Centrifuge
The lowermost piece of a Catapult. Only this piece may be touched to finally hurl the Projectile.

"flipping" the Centrifuge about it's lowest base edge to hurl the Projectile over a certain distance (See image below). Only the Centrifuge may intentionally be touched, while centrificing.
the Centrifice
the act of centrificing, as in "the throw" The distance of a Centrifice is measured from the starting line to the closest point of the Projectile.
Warning
Always centrifice pieces AWAY from yourself and others, never target people with a Centrifice!
Play
Players take turns, trying to beat the longest distance of the other players. The starting player becomes the first active player. The active player chooses two or more icehouse pieces to build a Catapult (he stacks them on top of each other in any way he chooses, then places the stack flat onto the playing surface). The lowermost piece is called the Centrifuge, the topmost piece is called the Projectile. The active player then places his Catapult anywhere in front of the starting line. No part of the Catapult may cross or be behind the starting line. He then centrifices his Projectile as far as possible (He flips his Centrifuge around the lowest edge of the base, thus hurling the stacked pieces into the air (see animation)). A player may not intentionally touch any other piece than the Centrifuge itself to shoot the Projectile. After all pieces have stopped moving, remove all pieces from the Catapult except the Projectile from the board. Then the next player becomes the active player. The player with the farthest Centrifice may not centrifice again until beaten by the Centrifice of another player. When a player couldn't beat the highest Centrifice three times in a row, he is out of the game. The game ends, when only one player (the one with the best Centrifice) is left in the game.
Tips
- Experience has shown that it makes sense to use a Drone or Queen as Centrifuge with a piece of equal size stacked directly above it as a base for every Catapult (which becomes the Projectile, when using only two pieces).
- Using Brute force will probably only damage your Icehouse pieces and won't achieve as good results as a fine tuned dexterity shot.
Advanced Game
- Measure the distance of your pieces using some kind of measuring device and create personal Top Ten Centrifice lists, global Top Ten lists, etc.
You can then try to beat your highscores using different playing surfaces, etc.
