What You Need

Battle of the Body Snatchers is a game for two players. You need a 6x5 board and four single-colored stashes to play.

About

Each player controls a rival faction of aliens. The aliens arrive in a small town at the same time and gradually replace the villagers with aliens who mimic human form. Eventually the enemy aliens meet and the battle begins!

Setup

Give one stash of a single color to each player. These are the aliens. Set aside an area next to your stash to place villagers and enemy aliens you capture. Randomly place the two remaining stashes of pyramids on the board. These are the villagers.

Choose a player to go first.

Phases of the Turn

Each turn consists of an infiltration phase followed by a movement phase, though only one of these phases will occur each turn.

Infiltration Phase

If there are any aliens of your color on the board that are not stacked under an enemy alien, skip this phase and go to the movement phase.

Otherwise, capture a villager anywhere on the board and replace it with an alien of the same size from your stash. You can't capture a villager if you don't have any aliens of the same size left in your stash. Your turn ends and the next player's turn begins after you replace a villager.

Movement Phase

Move two different aliens of your color. If you only have one alien on the board, only move that alien once instead.

Aliens move a number of spaces equal to their pip count and must end their movement on a villager or enemy alien. You can move over villagers and either player's aliens. You can't move through empty spaces or backtrack. There is no diagonal movement, but you do not have to move in a straight line. An alien can't move if another alien is stacked on top of it.

When one of your aliens ends its movement on a villager, capture that villager and replace it with an alien of the same size from your stash. If you don't have any aliens of that size left, just capture the villager. When one of your aliens ends its movement on an enemy alien, capture it, but do not replace it.

Example: On your turn, you move one large alien three spaces onto a medium villager. The villager is removed from the board and replaced with a medium alien from your stash. You also move a small alien one space onto an enemy alien. The enemy alien is removed from the board, but not replaced.

After moving your aliens, your turn ends and the next player's turn begins.

If you are unable to move, pass your turn. The game ends when both players pass.

Winning

When the game ends, players score points for aliens and villagers they have captured. Alien trios you have captured are worth ten points each. Villager trios you have captured are worth seven points each. Mixed trios of aliens and villagers are worth five points each. Captured aliens and villagers that are not part of a trio are worth no points. The player with the highest total score wins.
