Game Board Topology
Roughly speaking, the topology of a board consists of its shape, size, and the layout of the spaces within the board.
A variety of board topologies exist, including the following:
|Square topologies, such as chess boards or the 5 x 5 Volcano board. Each space on such a board has up to 8 spaces adjacent to it, including diagonals.||http://kmdownload.com/graphpaper/multiwidth/thumbnail.gif|
|Hexagonal topologies, such as the board described for Hexano. Each space on such a board has up to 6 spaces adjacent to it.||http://kmdownload.com/graphpaper/hexagonal/thumbnail.gif|
|Jeep has suggested offset square topologies (first described here) as a variation on the regular hexagonal-shaped boards.|
|Triangular topologies, such as the board described for Trice. Each space on such a board has up to 3 spaces adjacent to it (12 if you count corner-to-corner).||http://kmdownload.com/graphpaper/triangle/thumbnail.gif|
