Equipment/Chessboard

(Redirected from Chessboard)

A chessboard is a square board consisting of 64 squares arranged in an 8x8 grid, alternating between dark and light colors. It is used as the playing surface in many games. It is commonly included in a generic gaming kit, and for portability, a chessboard bandana works very well. For some games, an chessboard with a slightly altered topology is necessary, for instance to accomodate a number of players other than two or four; for this purpose, the chessboard wedge was designed, as it can be used in a modular manner to accomodate chess boards with three, four, five, or six identical sections.
